Cupping is one of the oldest historically recorded therapies used by health physicians from all over the world. Traditional glass or modern silicone cups are applied with suction to various areas of the body to increase circulation of qi, blood and fluids.
Moxibustion is the application of heat to acupuncture points or broader areas (e.g. the sacrum) by burning the herb: mugwort, known in TCM as moxa. It creates a deep, penetrating warmth which, depending on its application, can soften tension, promote circulation or reinforce the function of specific acu-points.
Gua Sha invigorates the flow of blood and Qi through muscle tissue and the skin by repeated rubbing with a piece of jade, horn or even a Chinese spoon. It may be used in cases of tension of specific muscles, meridians or of a general area (e.g. the upper back.)
